Peer pressure has more effect than family influence

A recent study seems to indicate that there’s absolutely no corelation between the actions of children and parents. It makes interesting reading because it is generally accepted that one of the major responsibilities of the parents is to pass down their values to the children.

Clearly the study is just one experiment and more work needs to be done.

  1. Hi subba,

Interesting write up and your observation.

I think peer influence not just influences but creates a ‘cast’ that remains as a template in future life. Be it study group or working group peer- they shape us in later life.

These days, with external factors come in life at early age, age for forming an impression is dramatically reduced there by enlarging the sphere of peer group. I would say family values play greater role in shaping up basic tenets of human values. If broken family, they make much stronger negative impact on children.

    Regards
